James Everett Brown

James Everett Brown, 84, of Statesville, formerly of Thousand Oaks, CA died peacefully at his home on December 11, 2017. He was born on June 13, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA. He worked in laser research as an engineer at Hughes Research Labs in Malibu, CA for 32 years. James served in the US Army Signal Corps at White Sands, NM during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Berthamae Brown and two daughters, Jayme Lockyer of Statesville and Joy Bondio of Santa Clarita, CA. He loved his 4 grandchildren; Christopher Cannon, Chloe Lockyer, Alicia Bondio and AJ Bondio. He cherished his great-grandchildren; Bailey Cannon and Braden Cannon. He is also survived by his twin brother, Charles Brown and two sisters, Mildred McElhose and Annamary Gorman. He loved the ocean and spent almost every day for years scuba diving off the California coast. He was renowned for catching lobsters. Friends and family shared in his bounty at many dinners together. He was known for his ability to fix almost anything and to fabricate amazing things in his garage workshop. He will be remembered as a creative man, loved by his friends and family.
