Whether family by blood, or family by choice, the name "Uncle James" was a term of endearment. He still maintained a brother in law friendship with his previous in-laws. He wasn't "like family", he was family. Many holidays, birthdays, and celebrations were made all the sweeter for having everyone together, a rare and cherished gift that has already blessed multiple generations. He was the proud father of 4 children, with the late Evelyn G Wade. Daughter Tammy G. Prince (Wayne Joyce) of Trinity, son Ric Garrison (Teri) of High Point, daughter Shandra Garrison of Orlando and son Michael Garrison (Krista) of Tyro. They attended church together for many precious years. They prayed together, dined together and shared life praising the Lord. He developed many long time friends with members of congregations at churches he attended. He would often spend many hours at the home of Brian and Tiffany Younts helping out with tasks and enjoying meals with the family. James could often be found helping someone in the neighborhood or strolling through flea markets and auctions. He enjoyed visiting the shut-ins. He loved a camp meeting or revival and would clear his calendar if he heard of an event nearby. The sermons and songs were like food for his heart and soul which he was always hungry for. He knew just what Jesus meant in Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, 'It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" He would wake up early to spend daily time with God in prayer. He spent hours reading his Bible and listening to it being read on the radio or from cassettes. His presence will be missed and his smile and laughter will continue to be a comfort and cherished memory. Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
