Jackie Myers Hicks

Mr. Jackie Hicks, 79, of Statesville, checked out of Serenity House in Mooresville, NC on Sunday, October 14, 2018 to check into his mansion just over the hill top walking hand in hand with Jesus to the Promise Land.



On January 31, 1959, he married Barbara Benfield Hicks and together they shared 57 years of marriage until her death on November 15, 2017.



Jackie never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. He was a truck driver for many years and has always worked with wood. He has made beautiful pieces so if you own a piece, treasure it forever.



Jackie was a member of Ham's Grove Baptist Church and was a deacon.



Left to cherish his memory are his children, Laura Hicks Blackwelder (William) of Statesville, Dale Hicks (Lisa) of Troutman and Clinton Hicks (Susan) of Mooresville. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Erica Renee Lambert of Statesville along with one brother, Richard Hicks (Debbie) and three sisters, Dorothy Cline, Edith Miles and Rachel Doan, all of Statesville. His dog Chase and Ms. Kitty also survive.



Funeral services honoring the life of Jackie Hicks will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 17 at Ham's Grove Baptist Church with Pastor James Bumgarner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. Active pallbearers will be Justin & Brandon Morris, Ashley Doan, Patrick Brooks, Adam Wooten and Cliff Cartledge. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Murdock, Andy Fox, and Donnie Morris.



The family would like to thank all those that has had the pleasure of taking care of Jackie. In his last few months, he has made a lot of new friends at Serenity House that has became a part of our lives as well angels who have sung to him, read the Bible and just held his hand. And to the younger generation of high school and college students who volunteer their time, God bless you all. You are all so sweet and kind and professional. You all are angels here on earth.
