Jack Ross Deal

Jack Ross Deal, 83, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Iredell County on May 1, 1933 to the late Claude R. and Catherine Parker Deal. Mr. Deal was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955. He married Jean Pardue on May 2, 1958 and they enjoyed over 58 years of marriage before his passing. Jack was retired from J.C. Penney Warehouse after 40 years of service and he farmed on the side loving nothing better than riding on his tractor. He was a member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bettie Deal Nesbit of Statesville. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jean; two daughters, Rebecca Deal Bass (Rodney) and Elizabeth Deal Hooper (Brian); two grandsons, Matthew J. Bass and Bradley N. Hooper; a granddaughter, Brianna N. Hooper, along with many special nieces and nephews, including Kathy Nesbit Brown. Funeral services for Jack Deal will be conducted 4:00 pm Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Forest Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Jeffreys and Rev. Beau Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 3:00 until 4:00 at the church. Active pallbearers will be Brian Hooper, Gray Pardue, Billy Swicegood, Duke Mills, Johnny Moore, and Matthew Bass. Bradley Hooper will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be made to Forest Park Presbyterian Church, 1026 Davie Avenue, Statesville, NC 28677.
