Isabel Maria Rafols-Miyar

Isabel Maria Rafols-Miyar, 82, formerly of Statesville, died July 19, 2018 in Alabaster, Alabama. Born in Cuba on September 10, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Miyar and Isabel Miyar. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Rafols.



Isabel was a graduate with a B.A. in Education and a Masters in Education majoring in foreign language from Appalachian State University. She was a career teacher, and a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church.



Survivors include her children: Juan Rafols (Cindy), Jorge Rafols (Jennifer), Jose Rafols (Rebeca) and Ana Rafols Foshee (James). Also surviving is a brother, Manuel Miyar (Ortesia), and grandchildren: Megan, Madison, Hannah (Alex), Haley, Mark Anthony (Camila), Gabriel, Nichole and Jean-Paul.



A funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church at 10:00 am Saturday, July 28, 2018, with Father Thomas Kessler officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
