Irene Mchargue

Mrs. Pearl Edith Irene McAlpin McHargue, 65, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Autumn Care of Statesville. Mrs. McHargue was born August 14, 1948 in Catawba County and was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul U. McAlpin and Mamie Arney McAlpin. She was a graduate of Scotts High School and on August 21, 1965, she was married to James Harvey McHargue, Jr., who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, James McHargue (Susie) of Statesville, Paul McHargue (Rachel Upright) of Statesville, 10 grandchildren; EJ Benfield (Brittney), Kallie McHargue, Lane McHargue, Jada McHargue, Jasmine McHargue, Brandon Gryder, Kaylon Gryder, Anthony Sadler, Landon Sadler and Layla Sharpe, one great grandson, Easton Benfield, one brother, Bill McAlpin, one sister, Ethel Teague, mother-in-law, Sarah Robinson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial service will be conducted 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie J. Allen and Don McAlpin officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Liledown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
