Mrs. Ida Mae Garrett Beasley, 75, of Statesville, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Beasley was born July 4, 1936 in Granville County and was the daughter of the late Flunnoy Owen Garrett and Mary Gracie Newton Garrett. She was a graduate of Stovall High School class of 1955 and on October 12, 1956 she was married to Hal B. Beasley, Jr. who survives. Mrs. Beasley was employed with Belk Department store and retired from Sara Lee Corporation. She was a member of Front Street Baptist Church and The Esther Perry Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis B. Garrett and one sister, Helen Yancey. Mrs. Beasley is survived by her son, Michael Beasley (Carol) and one daughter, Lisa Holt (Darrell) both of Statesville; one grandson, Justin Holt and one granddaughter, Amber Holt, both of Statesville. She is also survived by two brothers, Sam L. Garrett (Sarah) of Phenix City, AL. and Winston Lee Garrett (Matilda) of Bullock, N.C. along with two sisters, Arlene Kearney of Stem, N.C. and Ruth Walker (Cecil) of Buffalo Junction, VA. She is further survived by one uncle, Flunnoy "Dye" Newton (Rae) of Dry Fork, VA along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Front Street Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Stutts and Pastor Marvin Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28625 or to Front Street Baptist Church, 1403 West Front Street, Statesville, N.C. 28677. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Donna Rankin, caregiver for eight years; Iredell Home Health, Gordon Hospice House and all of Mrs. Beasley's doctors, nurses and staff.
