Ian Guy Wilkins

Ian Guy Wilkins, 79, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his home. Born August 17, 1938 in Glen Falls, New York, he was the son to the late Guy R. Wilkins and EIsie Berlin Wilkins. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force Reserves enlisting in 1958 and was called to active duty in 1961 to Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1962 for medical reasons.



Ian was a graduate of Syracuse University in 1970. He worked for General Electric, Ingersol Rand and Scott Aviation. In Statesville, he was President of Fischbein Corporation where he retired. When Ian moved to Statesville, he embraced the community and loved the friendliness of the people of the South. He loved the beauty of Statesville and his surroundings on Innisbrook Road. He loved golden retrievers and while living in Statesville he rescued three goldens from the Charlotte Rescue League. On June 3, 2006, Ian was married to Diane White Wilkins, who survives. He is further survived by daughters, Deborah Wilkins DeMorier and husband Everett DeMorier of Dover, DE, Lynda Wilkins of Prescott, MI, Lisa Sherrill Gannon and husband Terry Gannon of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving are Nicholas and Melissa DeMorier, grandson and granddaughter-in-law of Dover, DE, Alexander DeMorier grandson of Dover, DE, Maddie Gannon and Jake Gannon, granddaughter and grandson of Los Angeles, CA, along with a sister, Lynn Perkins of North Port, FL.



A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Ian Guy Wilkins will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Porter officiating. The family invites everyone attending the service to a luncheon at the Statesville Country Club immediately following the memorial service. A private burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.
