Huey Locke Moore

Mr. Huey Locke Moore, 82, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House, surrounded by family. Mr. Moore was born in Iredell County on September 13, 1935, and was the son of the late Rex Moore and Amanda Edison Moore. He attended Cool Spring School before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he completed his high school education. On August 5, 1960, he married Bobbie Warren Moore, and together they shared 57 years of marriage until his death. Mr. Moore worked for 47 years as a truck driver and was recognized for having driven three million miles without a single accident. He was a member of New Life Community Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. 27. Mr. Moore enjoyed farming and sharing the fruits of his labor with the neighbors. He was a big-hearted man and he loved kids. He was a man that made sure the kids around him did not do without. He along with his wife fostered several children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Richard Hartness and Michael Lloyd. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie, two daughters, Geneda Lloyd and Sonja Hartness along with one son, Dwayne Moore (Terrell), all of Statesville. He is also survived by one brother, Albert Moore (Pat) and their daughter, Elizabeth Moore of Mocksville, a brother-in-law, Boyd Roberts of Statesville. A special family friend and former driving partner for 18 years, John Everhart (Saundra) of Lexington, four grandchildren, Jason Lloyd (Allyson), Adam Lloyd (Emily), Kristy Hartness (Chris), and Wayne Hartness (Ashley), and four great-grandchildren also survive. There will be a memorial service honoring the life of Huey Moore at a later date.
