Huey Alton Pope

Mr. Huey Alton Pope, 79, of Statesville, died Sunday at his home. Born in Iredell County on March 16, 1938, he was a son of the late Huey Linden Pope and Minnie Drum Pope. On April 12, 1957, he married the former Gaye Ann Hudson who survives. Mr. Pope was a member of New Sterling A.R.P. Church where he served as a Deacon. He was retired after 50 plus years of service from Uniglass/Clark. He graduated from Celeste Henkel High School. Survivors in addition to his wife, include sons: Roger Pope (Lori) of Stony Point and Michael Pope (Linda) of Statesville, three brothers: Rynn Pope (Colleen) of Mooresville, Lynn Pope (Kathy) of Statesville and Lexyie Pope (Kathi) of Statesville along with a sister, Patricia Sherrill (Harold) of Statesville. Additional survivors include grandchildren: Brandon Pope (Nicole) of Stony Point, Kinslee Pope of Stony Point, Dylan Pope of Statesville and Tyler Pope of Statesville along with a great granddaughter, Ryleigh Pope of Stony Point. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at New Sterling A.R.P. Church with Rev. Tim Watson and Dr. Earl Linderman officiating. The body will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will then receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the committal. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com.
