Howard Brown

Mr. Howard Edmond Brown, 72, of North Wilkesboro, NC passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Brown was born April 11, 1941 in the Long Island Community of Catawba County, NC and was the son of the late Frank Brown and Marta Elizabeth Brown Sigmon. He was a graduate of Bandy's High School and was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church. On August 25, 1995, he was married to Sina Chapman Brown, who survives of the home. Howard worked for the Statesville Police Department, retiring after 30 years of service as a Detective Sergeant. He later worked for the Department of Juvenile Justice Division as a transporter for 20 years. He had been a Volunteer Fireman with the Ebenezer Fire Department, Volunteered for Hospice and many other agencies. He was very active in the Fraternal Order of Police and had served as a National Trustee. He also enjoyed wood crafting and cooking. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Timothy Brown of Mocksville, Todd Brown of Troutman, four grandchildren, Cady and Brianna Brown of Mocksville, Taylor and Lacey Brown of Troutman, two stepdaughters, Diane Johnston of Statesville, Sarah Perdue (Robert) of Troutman, four step grandchildren, Ashley and Maggie Johnston of Miller Creek, Donnie McCoy of Kentucky, Alex McCoy of Troutman, one sister, Frankie Starnes of Burke County, one niece, Ginger Bost and one great niece, Sabrina Cardin, both of Burke County. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Carson Moseley officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. All law enforcement officers are invited to sit in an honorary group for the funeral services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or to Three Forks Baptist Church, Faith Fund, 4685 Three Forks Church Rd., Taylorsville, NC 28681.
