Mr. Herschel Leanier "Herb" Warricks, 73, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Gordon Hospice House following a brief illness. Mr. Warricks was born April 14, 1938 in White County, Ill and was the son of the late William Henry and Iva Mae Browning Warricks. He attended White County schools and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On October 11, 1958 he married Pearl Liles Warricks who survives. Mr. Warricks was a retired machine operator with Clark-Schwebel and was also retired from Nicholson Funeral Home where he worked in maintenance. Herb enjoyed hunting and fishing and he was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Harmony. In addition to his wife, Pearl L. Warricks of the home, Herb is also survived by two sons, Steven L. Warricks (Karen) and Rodney E. Warricks (Diane), both of Statesville; two grandsons, Jason L. Warricks of Salisbury and Daniel A. Warricks of Statesville. He is further survived by two step-grandchildren, Travis and Tracie Williams of Statesville along with one brother, Chester Warricks of Wheaton, Ill, one sister, Barbara Kimble of Wynne, Ark. and a sister-in-law, Audrey Warricks of Mt. Vernon, Ind. Funeral services for Mr. Warricks will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Warricks and Rev. Randy Goodin officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family request no flowers and that donations be made instead to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28625.
