Helen Louise Green

Helen Louise Current Green, 90, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Iredell County on August 21, 1924 to the late Robert Luin Current and Cleo Shoemaker Current. Mrs. Green attended Harmony School and on September 9, 1945 she married Robert (Bob) James Green who preceded her in death on March 23, 2006. In her earlier years, she worked at Purcell's Drug but was a homemaker most of her life. She was of Baptist faith and enjoyed traveling with church friends and her brother Rex. She loved her grandsons and great grandchildren and enjoyed working with flowers. Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son Gary Wayne Green who died in 1996; two brothers, Bill and Rex Current; and a sister, Margaret C. Johnson. Left to cherish her memory are a son Ricky Nelson Green of Statesville; two grandsons, Gary Kent Green of Harmony and Jason Luin Green of Statesville; two great granddaughters, Jessica Amber Green and Britney Lane Green both of Burnsville, NC; a great grandson, Tyler Gary Green of Harmony; and two brothers, Johnny Current (Bobbie) of Chapel Hill, NC and Jack Current (Doris) of Cary, NC. Funeral services for Mrs. Green will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Kent Green, Jason Green, Trent Cranfill, Tony Everidge, Barry Johnson, Jeff Johnson, and Roy Love. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:30 until 8:00 PM.
