Helen Bunton

Mrs. Mary Helen Williams Bunton, 63, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Bunton was born March 30, 1948 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Claris Williams and Georgia Harris Williams. She was a graduate of Union Grove High School and on December 24, 1964, she was married to Allie James "AJ" Bunton, Jr. who preceded her in death on March 6, 2001. Mrs. Bunton was a self employed farmer and she was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bunton was also preceded in death by three sisters, Bertie Byrd, Ann Cloer and Anita Turnmire. Mrs. Bunton is survived by one daughter, Traci Hendren (Edward) of Statesville, one granddaughter, Jessica Hendren and grandson, Jacob Hendren, both of Statesville. She is also survived by two sisters, Loretta Mendez (Ray) of CA and Delaine Williams (Jimmy) of Stony Point along with four brothers, Donald Williams (Jane) , Junior Williams (Darlene), Dennis Williams (Ann), all of Statesville and Edsel Williams (Lois) of Union Grove. She is further survived by special sister-in-law, Earlene Goodin of Harmony along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Taylor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Williams and Rev. Randy Goodin officiating. Burial will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
