Hazel Wike

Hazel Bass Wike, 82, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at her residence. Mrs. Wike was born August 1, 1928 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Tom A. Bass and Vernie Murdock Bass Westmoreland. Mrs. Wike attended Iredell County schools and she was retired from Jantzen where she worked as a machine operator. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. On March 28, 1948, she married James Calvin Wike, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wike was also preceded in death by a son, Donald James Wike, Sr. Mrs. Wike is survived by her caretaker, Leroy Wingler, two grandchildren, Amy Wike and Donald James Wike, Jr., both of Statesville along with three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, June 13, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Orovitz officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
