Hazel Lucille Williams

Hazel Lucille Kennedy Williams, 86, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Williams was born January 25, 1931 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Arthur Farrell Kennedy and Emma Mills Kennedy. She was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and on May 12, 1949, was married to the late Roy Thomas Williams, Sr., who passed away in 1972. She worked as a seamstress from Beauty Maid Mills and retired from Winn Dixie in the deli section. She was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church and loved crocheting, sewing, her flowers and gardening. She is survived by one son, Ricky Williams of the home, one brother, Ralph Kennedy of Statesville, three sisters, Louise Orren of Troutman, Lorene Campbell of Statesville, Rachel Ketchie of Statesville and a special niece, who was always so helpful, Susan Campbell Jordan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Walter Kennedy and one sister, Louise Kennedy Troutman. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at New Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. David Gay officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery and the family will visit with friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Memorials may be made to the New Salem UMC Cemetery Fund or to the Gordon Hospice House.
