Hazel Barkley Rodgerson

Mrs. Hazel Barkley Rodgerson, 90, of Statesville, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Gordon Hospice House peacefully surrounded by her family. Born in Cleveland, N.C. on February 18, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Barkley and Ruby Munday Barkley. She enjoyed homemaking and caring for grandchildren. She was a member of Command Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her compassionate and loving soul. She cherished her family above all else and will be greatly missed. She was a loving and devoted mother of 10 children, one of which, Donald Glenn Jones is deceased. Surviving are: Jerry Jones(Joyce), Glenda Ballard (Tommy), Sylvia Myers (Tommy), Sandy Jones, and Mary McLain (Ronnie) all of Statesville, Betty Sanderson, Shirley Pitts (Clarence) and Debbie Icenhour (David) all of Taylorsville and Pat Shoemaker of Waynesboro, Va. Also surviving are 5 sisters, 29 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Command Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Morgan and Rev. John Issac officiating. She will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and entombment will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
