Hal Franklin Dobson Jr., 64, of Harmony, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 17, 1951 in Iredell County to the late Hal Franklin Dobson Sr. and Lola Wall Dobson. Junior was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was married to Joyce Campbell Dobson on April 26, 1975. They had over 40 years of marriage before his passing. He was a foreman for Suitt Construction before retirement and then became a self-employed farmer. He was a life member of both the Iredell County Rescue Squad and the North Iredell Rescue Squad having served in various offices including Chief in his 38 years of service. He was associated with many local fire departments teaching classes. He also taught first aid and small engine repair at Mitchell College. He worked with youth through the Rescue Explorer Post and his favorite pastime was fishing. Junior touched many lives during his lifetime and will be missed by all that knew him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Lee Dobson, and a special Nephew, Robert Dobson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce; a son, Jason Dobson; two daughters; Kimberly Dobson and Kristen D. Benfield (Jason); and four grandchildren, Cameron and Riley Dobson, and Levi and Hannah Benfield. He is futher survived by a brother, Wayne Dobson; a sister, Lavonne Gatton (R.D.); many beloved friends and family members; and his special four legged companion "Izzy." Funeral services for Mr. Dobson will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Clarksbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Katie Lineberger and Pastor Bobby Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at the Clarksbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Brown, Ralph Renegar, Richard Renegar, Keith Dobson, Steve Steele, David Cook, Tim Frye, and Tank Townsend. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the North Iredell Rescue Squad and Harmony Fire Department. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home Wednesday evening, October 21 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
