Grady Lee Privette, 64, of Statesville, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his home unexpectedly. Mr. Privette was born July 12, 1946 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Carlie Romus Privette and Rachel Almeida Privette. He was a graduate of Union Grove High School and was married to Nancy Carol Privette. He worked for 36 years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church, where he was formerly a Deacon. He served as a volunteer firefighter at the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department as well as Central Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Privette was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Annette & John Keller of Rock Hill, SC, Karen and Chad Daniels of Mooresville, Anthony and Renee Privette of Statesville, Rebecca and Randy Mitchell of Harmony, Keith Privette of Statesville, Jason and Kerrie Privette of Statesville, 13 grandchildren, Ross Keller, Megan, Noah, Lily, Kaelan, Sela, Karys, Aiden, Lauren and Pierce Privette, Andrew Mitchell, Pearl Olivia and Elijah Daniels; three sisters, Bonnie and Tommy Cook of Statesville, Barbara and Nelson Pendergrass of Union Grove, Edie and Tommy Payne of Statesville and one niece and four nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at Taylor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The family will visit with friends following the service.
