She had suffered from Alzheimer's Dementia for many years. Born Dec. 11, 1922 in Wallsend, England, she was the daughter of the late John Alfred and Mary Chapman Knox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank William Furches, her son, Joseph Knox Furches, her brother, Joseph Chapman Knox and her sister, Molly Knox Walker. She graduated from Catholic schools in Wallsend. After finishing school, she joined the Women's Royal Naval Service in World War II. They were married in Wallsend, England on April 18, 1945 and returned to make their home in Statesville, NC after World War II ended. She spent the next portion of her life being a devoted and loving wife and mother of two boys and three girls. She was primarily a homemaker but did work for Spainhour's in downtown Statesville for about 10 years. Georgina loved to cook and was a marvelous baker as well. She also enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, oil painting, rughooking and keeping a clean house.
