Geneva Wood

Geneva L. Wood, age 78 passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born on February 28, 1932 to the late Sam and Lillian Lowery in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She attended school in Spartanburg and received her degree as a Certified Nursing Assistant and retired after 26 years serving those in need. She married Timothy Wood on September 22, 2000. Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband Timothy Wood of the home, two daughters, Vickie Carter and Husband Rick of Macon, Georgia and Elaine Downs of Statesville. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a special live in caregiver, Wanda Windsor. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by a son, Terry Downs, a daughter, Kathy Downs, and a granddaughter Vickie Elaine Haney. Funeral services for Mrs. Geneve Lowery Wood will be conducted at 2:00pm, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Jarvis officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Olin Cemetery. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Geneva Lowery Wood.
