Geneva M. Bell

Geneva Myers Bell, 75, of Statesville, passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital, December 31, 2014. She was born July 30, 1939 in Iredell County to the late Willie G. and Janie Rash Myers. Mrs. Bell was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School, class of 1957 and on August 30, 1958 married Charles E. Bell, who survives and they enjoyed 56 years together. Geneva was a former employee and receptionist for NCNB in downtown Statesville and lived a life that was centered around her church and family. She enjoyed travel, reading and taking care of her family. She grew up in the Diamond Hill Baptist Church where she played the piano, assisted with the youth singing and taught Sunday School. She and Charles later became members of Beulah Baptist Church where Geneva helped to start the Golden Harvest Seniors' Group. They later attended New Salem United Methodist Church before joining Western Avenue Baptist Church some twenty years ago. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Mark Bell of Durham, Timothy Bell (Tracy P.) of Greensboro; a granddaughter, Lila Grace Bell of Greensboro; and a sister Brenda Richards (Creig) of Statesville. The family will visit with friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Nicholson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, January 5, 2015 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Skip Cartin and Rev. Dr. Jeff Spry officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dale McNeely, Dean McNeely, David Bell, Todd Brown, Craig Harper and Nelson Dellinger.
