Geneva Louise Bunton

Geneva Louise Jolly Bunton, 87, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bunton was born September 24, 1927, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Stamey and Katy Carson Jolly. She attended Central School and on May 10, 1947, she married Joseph Frank Bunton, who preceded her in death on October 5, 2012. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Bunton along with two brothers, Aaron and R.S. Jolly and a sister, Ethelene Jolly Campbell. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Bunton of Myrtle Beach, SC and a grandson, Gregg Bunton (Jamie) of Statesville along with three brothers, Buddy Jolly, Atwell Jolly, and Harry Jolly (Bonnie), all of Hiddenite, and three sisters, Emma Lou McCall of Salisbury, Sue Carter, and Elna Campbell (Julian), both of Statesville. She is further survived by a special friend, Peggy Summers of Taylorsville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Bunton will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Robinette officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff on one west at Iredell Memorial Hospital for their loving care shown to Mrs. Bunton the past 14 months.
