Gay Brotherton Stevenson

August 21, 1936 — December 20, 2019

Gay Brotherton Stevenson, 83, of Statesville, died Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.

She was born August 21, 1936 to the late John E. Brotherton and Cleo Sprinkle Brotherton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James "Sammy" Feimster and by her oldest daughter, Gloria Feimster Byers.

Gay was retired from Hunt Manufacturing and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. She loved shopping, traveling and watching Duke Blue Devil basketball. Gay was a very giving person and loved her family more than anything.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years; John Stevenson, a daughter; Teresa Pearson (Andrew) and a son-in-law; Danny Byers. Also surviving are sisters; Geraldine Ball, Joan Forsyth (Lenual), Ruth Williams, a brother; John Hal Brotherton (Dolores), and many special in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Byrd and Rev. Joey Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 to 1:45 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or to New Prospect Baptist Church, 509 Prospect Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
