Gary Shaver

Gary Dean Shaver, 71, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at his home. Mr. Shaver was born on November 26, 1942 in Rowan County and was the son of the late Clifton Sylvester Shaver and Edith Leonard Shaver. He attended Rockwell High School. Mr. Shaver truly enjoyed working with horses and he was very talented when it came to working with electronics. Mr. Shaver is survived by one son, John Shaver of Asheboro, one granddaughter, Ashley Sorrell of Rockwell, one sister, Retta Rice of Statesville and one brother, Wayne Schaefer of Snow Hill, NC. He is also survived by two nephews, Andy Rice (Cindy) of Statesville and Wess Schaefer of Snow Hill and one niece, Kim Holland (Allen) of Hamptonville. Three great-nephews Drew and Alex Holland and Corbett Schaefer also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Shaver will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, November 11, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Brad Borders officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm in the Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte, NC.
