Gary Lewis Coley

Gary Lewis Coley, 56, of Statesville, passed away at his residence on Friday, March 31, 2017. He was born in Iredell County on July 8, 1960 and was the son of Joe Brawley and the late Virginia Jo-Ann Medlin Brawley. Gary was a graduate of North Iredell High School and attended South Florida University. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was proud to have been a Green Beret. He was married to Cheri Jill Addison-Coley, who survives. Gary was a self-employed carpenter most of his career and had a great love for the outdoors, especially fishing and working with his two Belgium Malinois. He loved working in his garden and was proud of the fruits of his labors. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jill; daughter Tarah Coley; a son Chris Ratledge; father, Joe Brawley; brother, Lynn Coley; sister, Ginger Wansley (Eric); two nephews, Joseph and Ethan Wansley; and a niece, Lindsey Coley. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 4. 2017 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Parks officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. He will be interred at a later date at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
