Gary Gibson Dishman

Gary Gibson Dishman, 71, of Statesville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

He was born in Iredell County on October 27, 1951, to the late Junior "Spud" Dishman and Madeline Hodge Dishman. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Jamie and Bryan Dishman and a grandson, Tyler Perrusquia.

Gary was a truck driver all his life and was working for BVR Trucking at the time of his death. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who had a great sense of humor and an infectious smile. He loved his family, woodworking and building things. He was a big fan of NASCAR and the Carolina Panthers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 37 years, Laurie Fox Dishman, a sister, Sandy Dishman, a brother, Rick Dishman (Pam), his children, Tammy Cottle, Angie Dishman, Chris Dishman, grandchildren, Carlie Abernethy (Austin), Zachary Dishman, Brandon Perrusquia (Evey), Piper Cottle, Kaden Dishman, and Jaydee Dishman, and two aunts, Carolyn Ayers, and Brenda Massey. He especially loved his only great-grandchild, Ashton Kelley. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Marianne Wiegman, sister-in-law, Lisa Fox (Mark), brothers-in-law, Mark Straub (Lena), Scott Wiegman, nieces and nephews, Ryan Powell (Jordan) and their two children Zach and Skyler, Nick Powell, Natalie Powell (Ed), Taylor Wiegman, and Hayden Wiegman.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, at 11:00 am at Living Word Ministries with Pastor James Lewis officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service.
