Garry Alton Lanier

Garry Lanier Garry Alton Lanier, 76, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House with his family by his side. He was born in Iredell County on July 18, 1940 to the late Alton Flake Lanier and Margaret Ayers Lanier. Mr. Lanier was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and married Shirley Redmond on August 2, 1961. They shared over 55 years of marriage before his passing. He had been the owner/operator of Watts Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Company. After selling his business, he worked as a real estate agent. Mr. Lanier was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley; a son, Kevin Dean Lanier of Statesville; a daughter, Sandy L. Johnson (Randy) of Gibsonville, NC; a sister, Joyce Cash (Tony) of Statesville; two granddaughters, Cara Johnson of Gibsonville and Ashley Dickens of Greensboro; one grandson, Adam Johnson of Greensboro, and life-time special friend and family member, Jim and Loretta Branch. Funeral services for Mr. Lanier will be held 11:00 am Friday, March 24, 2017 at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Johnson and Rev. David Cash officiating. The family will visit with friends in the Fellowship Hall prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 am. A private family burial will be held prior to the service.
