Fred Daniel Jolly

Mr. Fred Daniel Jolly, 94, of Statesville, passed away, Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Lifecare Center of Banner Elk. Mr. Jolly was born October 29, 1921 in Caldwell County and was the son of the late John Harrison Jolly and Ella Crump Jolly. He attended Caldwell County schools and served in the US Army for seven years during World War II. In April 1946, he married the late Ora Lee Dishman Jolly and later remarried the late Geraldine Wooten. He was an aircraft mechanic working for General Motors and later for Charlotte Aircraft. He loved to mess around in his garden, tinker with all kinds of things, fish and especially loved to eat. Mr. Jolly is survived by one son, Bill Jolly (Rachel) of Boone, NC; step-daughter, Rhonda Kontos (Bob) of Statesville; step-son, Doug Wooten (Amy) of Statesville and granddaughter, Meghan de Boer (Maarten). Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cowles Bristol officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens.
