Fred Cape

April 28, 1925 — June 4, 2016

Fred Cape, 91, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Maple Leaf Healthcare. He was born in Davie County on April 28, 1925, and was the son of the late Harvey and Essie Cape and was married on September 30, 1944. He retired from Southern Screw Co. after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delphia Ball Cape on January 13, 1995. Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Nellie Mae Hager (Charles, Jr.) of Harmony, Shirley Ann Rochester (Gary Simmons) and Sandy Faye Moore, both of Statesville. He is also survived by three grandsons, Charles Hager, III of CA, Jason Rochester of FL, and James Moore of Newton; two granddaughters, Laura-Ann Thompson of Cameron and Melissa Feeser of Wilmington; four greatgrandchildren, Christine Morris of Carthage, Samantha Jones of Statesville, Elysijah and Hayden Moore of Newton. He is further survived by great-great-grandchildren, Sabrina and Bella Jones of Statesville, and Rachel and Steve Morris and Mary Grace Haymore, all of Carthage. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will follow in the Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating. The family would like to give a special thanks to Maple Leaf for their kindness and what they did for dad. Thanks to the staff at Iredell for the help with dad's knee surgery. We just want to thank everyone that did anything for dad, even giving him water and changing him. We appreciate this so much and thank everyone for the prayers also.
