Frankie Sue Newsome Deford

Frankie Sue Newsome DeFord, age 78, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, in Greensboro at the Select Specialty Hospital. Born on April 8, 1944, in Laurens, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Frank Newsome and Ventrene Byard Newsome.

Frankie Sue retired as a Travel Agent with AAA after 44 years. She loved and cherished animals, especially adoring her cats. She had a passion for collecting jewelry which included gemstones, different styles of artwork, and ceramic pottery.

In addition to her parents, Frank and Ventrene Newsome, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Chelsea Powell. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Laura Powell; grandchildren, Richard Powell and Taylor Barnett; her great-grandson, William Friend Shaeffer, Jr.; and her many cousins.
