With Photo Frances Parks Mrs. Frances Hager Parks, 79, of Statesville, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem following a brief illness. Born in Iredell County on December 22, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Fred Simon Hager and Marguerite Long Hager. Frances was a long-time active member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church and enjoyed spending her mornings piddling in the garden. She was a loving and supportive wife, mom and Nana and hardly ever missed the opportunity to cheer for her grandchildren at their many activities and sporting events. She was rarely seen without the love of her life by her side. She was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and Realtor/Broker for 33 years. She was associated with Parks Realty, Realty World Parks & Assoc, Hunter Realty, and most recently Coldwell Banker. She has received multiple awards and recognitions over her career, including Realtor of the Year and past President of the Iredell County Board of Realtors. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Blankenship, formerly of Cleveland. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, L.A. Parks, Jr., a son, L.A. (Chip) Parks, III. (Rhonda) of Statesville, daughters, Laura Thompson (Scott) of Statesville and Suzanne McLelland (Eddie) of Ft. Mill, S.C. Also surviving are grandchildren: Alex and Megan McLelland and Parks, Connor and Lizzie Thompson along with brothers: Jerry Hager of Rock Hill, S.C., Mike Hager of Raleigh, Richard Hager of Jenkinsville, S.C., and Dennis Hager of Millington, Maryland. Services celebrating Frances' life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Forest Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Jeffreys officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Nicholson Funeral Home. A private burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
