Frances Elaine Harris

Frances Elaine Harris, 77, of Statesville, passed away, Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. Elaine was born March 17, 1939 in Statesville to the late Lorene Sherrill Harris and Paul Hudson Harris. She graduated from Scotts High School, class of 1957, attended Appalachian College and Mitchell College. She worked for the Statesville Record & Landmark, Holland Transfer Company and was the first female transportation operation manager for Yellow Freight. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was very blessed with many friends who remained close to her throughout the years. Elaine is survived by one brother, Bobby Harris and wife, Jean, a nephew, Robert Harris and wife, Sheba and their children, Jason, Daniel and Amber. She is further survived by several cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Harris and two nephews, Stephen Harris and Bradley Harris. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nelson Granade officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Josh Godfrey, Mick Godfrey, Bill Beaver, John Hoover, Steve Heintz, Jim McLelland, Tommy Bell and Joe Raymer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County or to First Baptist Church. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Elaine Harris.
