Evelyn Mccurdy

Evelyn Barton McCurdy, 99, of Statesville, passed away Monday, January 17, 2010, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. Mrs. McCurdy was born July 19, 1911 in Camden, N.J. and was the daughter of the late Isaac Barton and Mary Barton. She attended schools in Camden, N.J. and was married to Edward Charles McCurdy who preceded her in death. Mrs. McCurdy was formerly employed with J.C. Penney as a sales clerk and was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Barton. Mrs. McCurdy is survived by a sister-in-law, Nicholina P. McCurdy along with a large number of nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. McCurdy will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, January 21, 2010 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Father Kurt Fohn officiating. The family will visit with friends starting at 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.
