Evelyn Davidson Goodin, 86, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born November 21, 1928, in Statesville, she was the daughter of the late Frank Gabriel and Noma Payne Davidson. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde G. Moore; second husband, Junior F. Goodin; son, James Paul Moore; granddaughter, Kisha L. Moore; grandson, J. Eric Lockman; brother, Billy J. Davidson and half-sisters, Illa Mae Davidson and Jewell Davidson Long; brother-in-law, Roy Lee Warren. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Moore Shirkey, and husband Ralph, of Westminster, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Victoria Moore of Clifton Forge, Virginia; special "adopted" daughter, Nancy Ann Faulk Stikeleather; step-children, Jimmy D. Goodin (Melda), Jeffrey A. Goodin (Hoa Thi) and Deborah G. Scott all of Statesville; grandchildren, Jeffrey Lockman (Angela), Paul David Lockman, Gina, Luke and A. J. Shirkey, all of South Carolina and Kevin Moore Overcash; nine step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby (Alice) and Frank Davidson Jr. both of Statesville; sister Lula Lee Warren of Taylorsville, sister-in-law, Joanne Davidson of Statesville; and her very special friend Joyce Howard. Evelyn was a great cook and known for her delicious pound cakes. She was also an excellent seamstress having retired from Beauty Maid Mills where she worked for 32 years. She was a proud member of Northview Church of Christ having served for several years in the church nursery, and took great joy in seeing how the little ones she had cared for had grown into fine adults. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Northview Church of Christ in Statesville, with Les Bonnet and Dan Waller officiating. Friends will be received by the family from 1:00-2:45pm prior to the funeral hour also at the church. Burial will follow at the Abilene Church of Christ cemetery also in Statesville. The family will assemble at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Northview Church of Christ Building Fund, 2615 Amity Hill Rd, Statesville, NC, 28677 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC, 28625. The family would like to thank the members of Northview Church of Christ for their service, visits, calls, cards and prayers for Evelyn during her life, trials and recent years of declining health. Gratitude is extended to Autumn Care of Statesville, the 600 hall staff and especially nurse Joanne for the special care and concern she always rendered. Evelyn had a special bond with Dr. Michael Miller and his staff that saw her through many medical problems during the years for which her family is very grateful. The family would also like to thank Dr. Naim Bouhussein and Dr. Willie Whitaker for their sincere care and attention to her individual medical needs during the most recent months.
