Eunice Adams Claywell, 90, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Serenity House in Mooresville. She was born May 11, 1922 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Cora Sigmon Adams. She was a graduate of D. Matt Thompson class of 39 when there were only 11 grades. On December 31, 1939, she married William A. "Buck" Claywell, who preceded her in death on December 24, 2012. Eunice was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed going out to eat with the thirty-niners as long as her health permitted and was a considerate and kind person. In the early part of her life, she worked in the family grocery store and was a housewife. She worked in the afterschool day care and a few years before retirement was an insurance agent for Charlotte Liberty Mutual. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Barry Nelson Claywell, a brother, Paul K. Adams and three sisters, Louis Nantz, Arlene Sharpe and Mildred Nantz. Mrs. Claywell is survived by a daughter, Corella Goodin and two grandsons, Frankie Rabon and Aaron Goodin (Shannon), all of Statesville. She is further survived by a great-grandson, Ethan Goodin along with several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Eunice will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Rash officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Carolina Comfort Coalition, c/o Serenity House, 110 Centre Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.
