Mrs. Eula Sprinkle Pope, 99, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Avante at Wilkesboro. Mrs. Pope was born August 26, 1914 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late James E. Sprinkle and Bertha Leola Mayberry Sprinkle. She was a graduate of Scotts High School and on October 29, 1949 she married Albert Felix Pope, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Pope was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon White, three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Pope is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Pope Sawyer of Lafayette, LA, a grandson, Chad White of Clemmons, three step-sons, Bobby Pope (Janice) of Monroe, Billy Pope of Stony Point, and Ronald Pope of Statesville along with two step-daughters, Sue Goodin of Statesville and Wanda Bolick (Dan) of Lenior. She is also survived by a sister, Hazel Weisner of Statesville and a son-in-law John White of Dobson, NC. Ten step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Pope will be conducted 3:00 pm Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Campbell and Rev. Dwight Dowell officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Pope's honor can be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, 509 Prospect Rd. 28625.
