Eugenia Monroe

Eugenia D. Monroe, 76, of The Gardens of Statesville, passed away, Wed. March 16, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Monroe was born August 15, 1934 in Asheville, NC and was the daughter of the late Coy Alvin Davis and Elizabeth Helen Dula Davis. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College and on December 27, 1956 was married to the late William Tommy Alexander Monroe. She was of the Methodist faith and was a teacher for Haywood County Schools. Mrs. Monroe is survived by one daughter, Rebecca M. West (Roger), one son, Paul Monroe (Marsha), two grandchildren, Jordan Monroe, Adam Monroe, three sisters, Barbara McGuinn (Bill), Betty Sue Nesbitt (Pat), Patricia Reynolds and one brother, Richard Davis (Betty Ann). In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Davis. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Fletcher United Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Leonhardt officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the church.
