Mrs. Estelle Elledge Lundy, 94, of 1508 Royalty Circle, Statesville, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from complications of a recent stroke. Mrs. Lundy was born June 7, 1919 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Buel Avery Elledge and Pearl Taylor Elledge. She was a graduate of Harmony High School and on December 23, 1939, she married James Bristol Lundy, who died August 27, 2002. Mrs. Lundy attended Hebron Baptist Church all of her life; and upon claiming Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at age 10, became a member of the church. She served her beloved church faithfully in many capacities and financially supported and diligently worked to embrace Hebron Baptist Church in its mission to spread God's word. Not only was she a tireless worker in her church, she was a loyal employee of Stimpson Hosiery Mill for more than 40 years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lundy was preceded in death by a brother, Ira Monroe Elledge, a sister, Stella Elledge Travis, a brother-in-law, Noel Lee Travis and two sisters-in-law, Zimmie Mahaffey Elledge and Emma Lea Tharpe Elledge. She is survived by a brother, Jack Buel Elledge of 1303 Royalty Circle, Statesville, NC 28625 and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends that she had adopted as Christian sisters for their many kindness and regular visits are Margaret Feimster, Shirley Walker, Doris Coates, Nell Carlton, Ann Scruggs and Louise, Sandy and Janice Barker. The family wishes to express their depp appreciation to these ladies and to all who visited and transported "Aunt Estelle" to church. She truly loved you for your good deeds. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. William Wease and Rev. Kevin York officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately after the burial service. Serving as pallbearers will be David Elledge, Bruce Lundy, Donald Lundy, Jerry Lundy, Ken Lundy, Mike Lundy, Steve Lundy and Bill Wilson. Memorials may be given to Hebron Baptist Church, 175 Hebron Rd., Statesville, NC 28625; Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
