E.R. "Buddy" Herbert

Edwin Russell "Buddy" Herbert, 73, of Statesville, NC, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Iredell Memorial Hospital of an extended illness. He was born June 25, 1939 in Oakland, Indiana and was the son of the late Edwin Henry Herbert and Lucille Margaret Herbert Thompson. Buddy attended Poolville, TX Schools and enlisted in the Navy in 1957 serving his country honorably. He had worked in construction and was self employed most of his career. He also served the Village of Surfside Beach, TX as a Municipal Court Judge and as a volunteer fire fighter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step-father, Johnny Thompson and two sisters Barbara and Henrietta. Mr. Herbert is survived by two daughters Jeannie Toliver and Leigha Miller along with six grandchildren, all of Statesville, NC. He is also survived by three sisters Judy, Mary Beth and Shirley.
