Emma Pauline Whisnant

July 28, 1941 — March 11, 2018

Mrs. Emma Pauline Gilbert Whisnant, 76, of Lenoir, died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at her home. Born in Caldwell County on July 28, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Carl Lee Gilbert, Sr. and Bertha Curtis Gilbert. On April 12, 1959, she married Mr. Maynard Ray Whisnant who died on July 15, 2005.



She was preceded in death by brothers, Preston, Glenn and Albert Gilbert and a grandson, Gary Ray Whisnant, Jr.



She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all. attended Community Baptist Church in Lenoir and was retired from Chemical Coatings. She was a 1959 graduate of Collettsville High School.



Survivors include her sons: Raymond Whisnant of Lenoir and his girlfriend Becky Lenz of Galax, VA, Gary Whisnant of Hudson and Douglas Whisnant of Statesville. Also surviving are her brother, Carl Lee Gilbert, Jr. (Brenda) of Troutman and sisters: Lettie Moretz, Jean Hatley, Frances Marler, Carolyn Trivette (Ralph) and a special friend, Ronald Holman all of Lenoir along with a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are grandchildren: Heather Kirby (Jonathan) of Lenoir, Kyle Whisnant (Lorna) of Gastonia, Nicholas Whisnant of Melvindale, MI, Paul Whisnant (Brittany) of Hudson, Christopher Whisnant of Kennasaw, GA and Lance Whisnant (Trisha) of Lenoir along with great grandsons: Keaton & Brody Kirby, Ian, Canyon, Easton, Oliver, Hunter and Grayson Whisnant.



Services celebrating Emma's life will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Community Baptist Church in Lenoir with Rev. Waitsel Beard officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening at the church from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Burial will follow the service on Saturday at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lenoir.
