Mrs. Elizabeth Lenora Watts Weaver, 93, of Statesville, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Jurney's of Statesville. She was born July 17, 1922 in Iredell County to the late Columbus Wooten Watts and Mary Elizabeth Davis Watts. She was a graduate of Scotts High School and Mitchell College. Elizabeth and her husband, the late George B. Weaver, were charter members of Oakdale Baptist Church. She held several offices in the church including WMU director and church clerk. Elizabeth retired from the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service after 40 years of service. During that time, she was a charter member of the N.C. Cooperative Extension Secretaries Association and filled a number of its offices. She was a member of the Statesville Artist Guild and participated in many art shows and sales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Weaver, her son, Richard G. Weaver, her brother, Clay Watts and two sisters, Lois Thomas and Ellen Dupree. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Elizabeth Weaver Black, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Megan Black, both of Gastonia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Johnsie B. Watts, along with several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Oakdale Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Eades officiating. Private burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
