Elizabeth Fairley Jones

Mrs. Elizabeth Fairley Lucas Jones, 85, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, December 4, 2018.



Mrs. Jones was born July 14, 1933 in Burgaw, NC and was the daughter of the late David Nicholson Lucas and Margaret MacMillan Lucas. She was a graduate of Queens College in Charlotte and on June 20, 1956, she married the late Avery Sherrill Jones, Sr, who passed away in 1987. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, was an Elementary School Teacher and upon her husband's death she managed the family's real estate holdings and farms.



Mrs. Jones is survived by five children, Avery Sherrill Jones, Jr., Elizabeth Jones Rodden (Alan), Margaret Antoinette Jones, David Lucas Jones, Sr. (Rebecca), Caroline MacMillan Jones; 10 grandchildren, Amy MacMillan Jones, Avery Sherrill Jones, III, David Lucas Jones, Jr., Matthew Alexander Jones, Michael MacMillan Jones, Gary William Schwab, Jr., Katherine MacMillan Schwab, Emily Elizabeth Rodden, Elizabeth Riley Macke, James Edward Macke, Jr. and great granddaughter, Ava MacMillan Smith.



Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Grant Sharp, Rev. Ed Boyce and Rev. Wes Pitts officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fourth Creek Meeting Hall. A private family burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
