Elaine Tschache Sampson, 98, of Colfax, NC, died on October 27, 2017 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge in Colfax, NC. Elaine was born on May 24, 1919 in Hingham, Montana to David and Anna Bahr Tschache. She married Arthur Sampson on February 26, 1947 and they had one daughter, Kathleen, of New York City. Elaine taught elementary school in Montana, California, and New York for 381/2 years. Through the years Elaine met extraordinary friends who enriched her life and continued to do so when she moved to River Landing. She always said that her friends brought her great joy. Elaine was preceded in death by husband, Arthur; sister, Doris Lindberg; and brothers, Dean and Milton Tschache. Surviving are her daughter, Kathleen and her partner, Katie Farrell of New York City; brother, Raymond Tschache of California; and special nieces and nephews: David Lindberg (Donna) of California, Judy Trent (Gloria) of New York City, Dean Tschache (Diana) of Alabama, Teri Scott (David) of Montana, Burt Tschache (Barbara) of California, and Janice Meir (Wilhem) of Germany. A Memorial Service will be held at River Landing at Sandy Ridge in the multipurpose room with Chaplain Nancy Williams-Berry on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, November 6, 2017 at Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church. Memorial gifts can be made to the Presbyterian Homes Foundation, River Landing at Sandy Ridge, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC 27235 or to a charity of your choice.
