Edwin "Ed" Gearhart Nelson

Edwin "Ed" Gearhart Nelson, 62, of Stony Point, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at his home.

Ed was born in St. Joseph's, MI on October 2, 1957 and was the son of the late George Nelson, Sr., and Marlene Jeanette Gearhart Nelson. He was a graduate of Galien High School. Following high school, he attended school for HVAC.

Ed loved the outdoors. He found peace in sitting in the woods drinking his cheap beer and smoking his cheap cigarettes. At other times, he could be found playing his favorite sport, golf. He also loved music, especially the J. Giles Band. Ed enjoyed reading books of all genres, but he was fond of those short stories written by Lewis L'Amour. He passed his love for cheap beer and music on to his three sons.

Left to cherish the memory of Ed Nelson are his three sons, Phillip Nelson of San Francisco, CA and George Nelson (Katie) and Charles Nelson (Jessica), both of Niles, MI. He is also survived by one sister, Barb N. Powers and two brothers, Tim Nelson and Ole Nelson, all of Stony Point. He is further survived by two grandsons, Henry and Everette Nelson.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family has chosen to have a private memorial service honoring the life of Ed Nelson at a later date.
