Edna Mae Shoemaker

Edna Mae Estes Shoemaker, 85, of Olin, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born on September 20, 1930 in Iredell County to the late Claude Estes, Sr. and Georgia Hefner Estes. Mrs. Shoemaker attended Iredell County Schools and was married to Frank James Shoemaker who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker most of her life but had worked at Piedmont Garment in Harmony for 15 years. Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was very caring and had a love for all children. Along with her parents and husband, Frank, she was also preceded in death by three brothers Fred Lee Estes, Stoney B. Estes, and John Wayne Estes; one sister, Claudine Link, and a half-brother, Dewey Hefner. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Frank Shoemaker, Jr of Statesville and Randall Dwight Shoemaker of Taylorsville; a daughter, Marie Helen Shoemaker of Harmony; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Estes and Sue Estes; one brother, Claude Estes, Jr., and her special friend, Lena Ladd. Funeral services for Mrs. Shoemaker will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marsha Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
