Edwin Irwin Stanton, 54, of Statesville, passed away, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Stanton was born Sept. 21, 1956 in West Stewarts Town, NH and was the son of the late Prescott Stanton and Rachel Parker Langlais, who survives. He was a graduate of Colebrook Academy in New Hampshire and served in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 31, 1981, he was married to Lori Edmiston Stanton, who survives of the home. He was a member of Welcome Inn Christian Church and was worked for N.C.D.O.T In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four sons, Christopher Stanton of the home, Rory Stanton of Statesville, Joseph Carter of Jacksonville, FL, Curtis Stanton of Florida, one daughter, Jennifer Loflin (Dave) of Statesville, seven grandchildren, Bryan Stanton, Dylan Stanton, Amelia Lee, Tanner Loflin, Desirea Carter, Logan Webb, Riley Carter, two brothers, Steve Stanton (Lucie) of Kenai, Alaska, Walter Stanton of Kenai, Alaska, one sister, Shirley Dupris (Ron) of Manchester, N.H., step-mother, Betty Stanton, step-sister, Debbie Bedard (Josie) and Pudge, his doggie best friend. He was preceded in death by one son, Edwin I. Stanton, Jr. Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Kiser and Rev. Mark Kiser officiating. Burial will be held in the Union Grove United Methodist Church. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
