Dwight Marshall Jordan, 94, passed away at his home in Union Grove on Friday, October 09, 2015 following a brief illness. He was born in Iredell County on June 19, 1921 to I. Hubert Jordan and Myrtle Mayberry Jordan. He was married to Hazel Combs Jordan for over 50 years. She preceded him in death in 2000. His pride and joy was farming and hard work. He loved to tell stories about life. Once he walked from his military base in Georgia to Baptist Hospital to tell his dying mother goodbye. His philosophy of life was that something taken was not worth owning. He had a strong character and was an avid bee hunter. He will be greatly missed by his beagle, Mustard. He is survived by four children, Dixie J. St. Clair (Lynn), Keff M. Jordan (Kathy), Randy M. Jordan (Sherri), and G. Parker Jordan (Beverly). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Angela Barnes, Emily Morris (Justin), Shelley Sharpe (Shane), Nick Jordan, and Bailey Jordan, along with one great grandchild, Aiden Privette. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Rachel Allred, Violet Huddler, Gay White, Vella Lou Shoemaker, Beulah Redmond, Richard Jordan, and Edith Jordan. He is survived by one sister, Faye Walsh of Ferguson. Graveside services with full military honors provided by the North Iredell American Legion Post 113 will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Taylor Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Carl Williams officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Flowers will be accepted. Dwight would request that you do something kind for someone in his memory.
