Dr. Amelia Kennedy

Dr. Amelia Edmonia Kennedy, 85, of Harmony, NC passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Dr. Kennedy was born Nov, 26, 1925 in Houstonville, NC and was the daughter of the late Roderick H. and Edmonia Butter Kennedy. She was a graduate of Harmony High School, class of 1942, Pfeiffer College in Meisenheimer, NC, UNC Chapel Hill and Lincoln Chiropractic College in 1950. She also was the owner of Harmony Chiropractic Center for over 50 years and was a member of Statesville Seventh Day Adventist Church. In addition to her parents, Dr. Kennedy was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Kennedy, Cecelia K. Conrad and two brothers, R. Houston Kennedy and John D. Kennery. Dr. Kennedy is survived by nieces, Joy (Bill) Young of Houstonville, NC, Elizabeth (Billy) Coley of Mount Holly, Mary Lynn Grant of Charlotte, one nephew, Paul Conrad of Houstonville and a number of cousins and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2001 at Statesville Seventh Day Adventist Church on East Broad St., Statesville, NC. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Houstonville Community Center Renovation Project, c/o P.O.
