Dorothy Jean Compton

Dorothy Jean Rash Compton, 84, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Maple Leaf Healthcare. She was born in Iredell County on October 16, 1930 to the late Jule and Essie Hedrick Rash. Mrs. Compton was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was retired from Jantzen where she was an inspector. She was married to Robert Bentley Compton, who preceded her in death in 1967. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, working puzzles, and loved her cats, Angie, Mimi, and Rowdy. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Ike Compton. Mrs. Compton is survived by a daughter, Mary Jeanne Compton of Statesville; two sons, Jacob C. Compton of Mooresville and Robert B. Compton of Statesville; a granddaughter, April Carver (Daniel Sanchez) of Statesville, and one sister, Anderson Rash of Statesville. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Compton will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Corbell officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. There will be a private family burial held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
